Community Events

The City of York Events Department was developed to oversee the various events throughout York during the year. Anyone interested in holding an event in York is required to fill out a Special Events Application which will be reviewed to confirm events do not overlap, all criteria are met and the event organizer is in full compliance with all City ordinances and regulations. Applications should be submitted no less than 3 months (90 Days) prior to event.

Special Events Application

A special event permit is required for all organized activity using publicly owned, manager or controlled property when an event is expected to have 50  or more attendees or require any city services.  Applications are submitted to the City Council each month for review and approval. Download the Special Event Permit Application.  Upon approval, the Community Events Department will work with the event organizer to assist with advertising the event through the City's social media channels, i.e. Website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Hospitality Tax Grant Program

The purpose of the Hospitality Tax Events Grant Program is to improve the quality of life and draw more visitors to York through advertisement, marketing, and promotion of events and other tourism-related developments, attract tourism leading to dining at restaurants and other eating/drinking establishments in York and to support and highlight the City’s historic and cultural venues and recreational facilities.
